How could this happen?

Thanks for the thought-provoking review.

Moonshadow is classed as a romantic mystery, but it is much more than that. The heart of the story is the mistreatment of Native American children in Canada in the 1960s and 1970s. This mistreatment raises the question of how could such a thing happen?

And the answer to that is all too easy because throughout history into today mankind has constantly demonstrated that it is capable, with public support, of inflicting crimes against humanity.

Against that backdrop, this is an important novel written with feeling and humanity. The characters are well described and they bring the story to life, a story that is moving and grabs hold of your emotions.

Sadly, we seem content to allow bigots and racists to prosper. However, as long as brave authors like Joy Lynn Goddard bring their atrocities to our attention there is hope that future generations will say enough is enough and create a world based on respect where all cultures can prosper.
